Overview

What is .college

The word college means an institution for study after high school, which may be part of a university or stand on its own, and its exact sense differs from country to country. .college entered the internet’s root in 2014 as a new generic extension; it is run by XYZ.COM LLC and supports names in Arabic and DNSSEC signing.

It suits colleges, higher institutes and university degree programs, and the alumni associations of a particular college. Students read it as a statement of a higher-education institution, so it suits those who actually provide that education, and misleads if a short-course center that doesn’t offer such study holds it.

Its price with us is fixed, the first year and every renewal, so you know its cost for years, but it’s much higher than .com’s. Syria has a national extension for education, .edu.sy, so if your college is here, register both: the national one for your students, and .college for those who look for you from abroad.

    Register it with.college.com

.edu.sy says it’s a Syrian educational institution, and .college carries its name abroad.

    Register it with.edu.sy.college

  • An alumni association

    Good · A good fit

It gathers one college’s graduates under its name, and .org says it’s not for profit.

    Register it with.college.org

  • A university with many colleges

    Good · A good fit

For a whole university .university is more precise, and .college serves each of its colleges.

    Register it with.university.college

  • A short-course center

    Consider another · Consider .academy

A college suggests study after high school; for short courses .academy is more honest.
